Let's chat Day of Stationery... At Events by Jade, we believe day of stationery is always a good idea. It can easily be defined as any paper goods used on your bid day. Think welcome sign, menu cards, and more. At first glance, it may seem like DOS is pretty easy to understand, but we often have brides ask many questions around this topic, so we hope this blog helps to break things down. Ceremony Programs - Many feel this is outdated and skip this, but that's completely up to you. If you do opt for a program, it's a great place to include all your wedding party. Quick tip - use the back for additional notes such as a thank you note for guest or even parents. We recommend one per couple. Dinner Menus - We think menus are a beautiful way to make the table feel elevated and upscale. When you have a menu card, the table looks complete. There are many ways to make the card special and unique to the bride and groom. This is also a great place to add additional information to the back. Day of timeline, fun get to know you questions from bride and groom, crossword puzzles, etc. You will need one per guest (Also account for any empty chairs.) Escort Cards - These cards tell the guests where they will be sitting for dinner. They will have their name, table number, and food choice located on it. This is a great place to have a fun and creative way to display them. Table Numbers - These can be displayed a few different ways. Easels, tented, holder, frames and more. You will need one per guest table. Signage - Here are a few additional ideas for day of signage. - Welcome sign - Unplugged ceremony sign - Signature drink menu - Guest Book - Cards and Gifts - Order of the day - Memory Table -Welcome bag tags - Thank you cards for after the wedding We hope this break down of day of stationery helps you figure out what is needed and how much to buy. Now, what are you going to order for your wedding?

Putting together a seating chart for your wedding day can be a little tricky. It feels a little like completing a complex puzzle. I have composed a few ideas over the years to make the process as easy as possible for you. There are two ways I recommend planning out your seating chart. 1.) Old school pencil and paper, which is actually, poster board and sticky notes 2.) Online digital I love modern technology, but this is an area where I prefer the old school method. We will discuss both though. For the old school method, I recommend grabbing a poster board and some sticky notes. Make the poster board reflect your floor plan with the exact number of tables and chairs. Make sure you know the max amount of people you can place at each table. Most Texas venues have 60" round tables. It's best to put 8 people at each table, but you could have as many as 10 (without chargers). Double check you know exactly how large the tables are though and how many people could fit. Then, write down the names of each guest. Double check this at least 2 times to ensure you haven't forgotten anyone. The reason I love using the sticky notes is because they are so easy to move around. This isn't a quick process, so it will take time shuffling people around until you get the perfect formula. Some people, like to even color coordinate them into groups, but I don't think it's necessary. For the digital versions, you should be able to find an online template for you to create the seating chart. You can type in the names at each table until you have a place for each guest. Here are a few of my favorite tips to remember when making your seating chart.
1.) Group your guests into categories to indicate their relationship to you so it's easier to lump them together.
3.) Keep both sets of your parents close to the sweetheart/head table or dance floor 4.) Mix up singles and married people at each table to keep things from getting awkward 5.) Consider the location of the band or DJ, so you can make sure whoever is closest won't be negatively effected by the noice levels. 6.) Think about if you want a kids table or to sit kids with their parents. I hope this helps you when organizing and preparing to create your seating chart. Please comment if you have any questions. Let’s chat about wedding attire. We have had a lot of questions recently about what wording to write on your wedding invitations. We thought it would be fun to put together a quick reference guide for wedding dress code.
Let’s start with the fanciest first… White Tie This is fancy-shancy. Women should wear a formal floor-length evening gown, no exceptions. Pair your dress with all the accessories; jewelry, clutch, heels. Men are required to wear a tuxedo with tails, a formal white shirt, white vest and bow tie, and gloves. Yes, I know, gloves!! Black Tie This is the next most formal wedding dress code and usually means the wedding is an evening event. Women should wear a formal floor-length gown. Men must wear a tuxedo. A black bow tie, black vest or cummerbund. Formal or Black Tie Optional The wording here indicates something less formal than black-tie is customary. The choices are the same as with black-tie: a floor-length gown, a fancy cocktail dress, or a dressy pantsuit. Men have the option of wearing a tuxedo, or they can wear a formal dark suit, white shirt, and conservative tie. Cocktail Cocktail attire is a popular dress code choice for most of our weddings. It's a balance between sophisticated and comfortable. Instead of a floor-length dress, women should opt for a tea-length or knee-length. Men should wear a suit and tie. Semi-formal or Dressy Casual A lot of dressing for a semi-formal or dressy casual wedding is knowing details. What time of day?? What season in the year?? You would want to wear darker, more formal colors for an evening wedding; and light colors and fabrics for a daytime event. Pair with heels, nice wedges, or formal flats. If the ceremony is being held outdoors make sure to wear flats or wedges that won’t get stuck in the grass. Men should wear a dress shirt and slacks, with an optional tie. Casual Casual wedding attire is normally used for a laid back event or even a beach wedding. We should specify that jeans, shorts, or tank tops are never acceptable. A pretty sundress would be perfect. Wedges or nice sandals are the perfect footwear for a casual wedding. Men can wear dress pants or khaki pants with a collared shirt. Themed We love a good themed wedding, for example, we have designed a Beauty and the Beast themed wedding where guest wore enchanted outfits and a lot of women wore yellow dresses. Another example is a Halloween wedding where guest dress up in costumes. We always encourage wedding guest to come in the attire the bride and grooms are requesting. It’s entertaining and amusing for them and makes for delightful pictures. We hope this guide helps when picking what attire you want your guest to wear for your wedding day. Benefits of a Wedding PlannerBetween booking your vendors, managing budget spending, organizing your RSVPs, deciding on your Save the Dates, and everything in between, planning a wedding requires loads of work. Even the most organized brides have trouble multitasking and organizing their day-to-day activities following up to the big day. Working with a wedding pro like Jade, can take the weight off of you and your significant other, giving you more time to trust and enjoy the process. Here are some important reasons on why to hire a wedding planner: They Are Your Go-To Expert for Decisions & Advice While your significant other is there to help you make iffy decisions, their guess is just as good as yours. Until the moment of, “I do”, and frankly, even after, a wedding planner is there to help you handle any last-minute questions, comments or concerns regarding the venue, guests, vendors or anything else wedding related. This allows the bride and groom to fully enjoy themselves while the planner takes care of the rest. They Stick to a Timeline One of the most valuable aspects of a wedding planner is that they help your day stay on schedule. Without the perfect timing, the big day would be a chaotic frenzy. From taking pictures to setting the venue up, walking down the aisle, cutting the cake, dancing and partying the night away, a wedding planner’s job ensures that the vendors and venue staff run your event as seamlessly and flawlessly as possible. They Bring Your Vision to Life! You may think that you know your partner, but a wedding planner can help you discover a couple style that’ll bring your priceless day to life. Your wedding should reflect each of your values and desires, and a wedding planner helps you both visualize your event to maximize its best features. You Can Have a Life Outside of Planning Planning a wedding takes up a lot of your time. That’s why some couples are engaged for years before they actually tie the knot. You and your partner deserve to sit back, relax and focus your attention on yourselves, your work, home and life. A wedding planner knows who to talk to and hire in order to bring all the elements of your wedding together perfectly. They Can Save You Money! Events by Jade can’t make money grow on trees, although she can ensure that you are getting the absolute best for your budget. A planner helps you spread out and understand each cost, so that you are spending your money wisely. Planners understand where you need to spend more or less in order to get what you are looking for. Budgeting on your own can be difficult, especially if you’re unsure of the average price points for each portion of your event. The global pandemic has put a serious strain on weddings over the past year, but that doesn’t mean that couples aren’t still looking to tie the knot. Extravagant receptions with hundreds of people are ‘so two years ago’ anyways, so why not switch it up and still have the option to get married to your significant other? What was once normal to include in your wedding may not be available in 2021, but the latest wedding reports are taking floral trends, wedding attire and reception décor to a whole new level. There are plenty of coronavirus-friendly ways to get hitched and Events by Jade has pulled together the inspiring must-have and outdated must-not wedding trends for 2021. Wedding Trends for 2021 All weddings are personalized to the party’s liking and there’s no wedding taste that fits all. The 2021 wedding trends are slowly beginning to change because of preference and circumstance. From the wedding dress, catering, interior design and décor, couples are preferring to spend money on some things more than others when it comes to their big day. Intimate Ceremonies The top of the wedding trends list for this year begins with more intimate, informal ceremonies. Couples are including less people in their wedding party and invitation list to abide by COVID-19 rules, and still have the luxury to enjoy their special day with loved ones. Inviting your nearest and dearest to a small wedding that guests will love is definitely trending. Inviting up to 25 people on your guest list for your wedding may not seem enticing, but planning a micro wedding is becoming more popular as the pandemic season persists. Micro weddings can be formal and traditional or informal and contemporary, although they tend to be a fusion of both styles. A smaller guest list also allows more budget per guest, granting the bride and groom an opportunity to add private wine tastings, charcuterie boards or other personalized touches throughout the reception. A bespoke soiree allows the bride and groom to engage with each of their guests which is the most popular reason for its surging demand. Assigned Seating While weddings may typically have open seating per table, the seating arrangement this year will be based on assigned chairs. Couples understand that families and friends want to sit next to each other and if they come from the same household, it makes abiding by coronavirus rules much easier for planning the layout. Extended Celebrations Many couples that got engaged in 2020 may have had an intimate ceremony to make it official but are waiting to celebrate their big day how they want it after COVID-19. Micro weddings aren’t for everyone and many brides and grooms want to wait and have the lavish celebration that they’ve always dreamed of after the pandemic. Less Splurging More Saving Over-the-top weddings are slowly dying out and while having an elaborate celebration is exciting, more couples are turning a blind eye to the precarious option this year. Many people have lost their jobs, got laid-off or demoted in 2020, which is why fewer couples are looking to drain their bank accounts, celebrate luxuriously and put on the picture-perfect wedding in 2021. DIY wedding reception favors are also becoming more popular as they allow the bride and groom to add their personal touches to the décor on their wedding day. Couples are adapting to the ‘less is more’ style and limiting their wedding budget, décor and design in order to still have the opportunity to tie the knot when they want. No Way Buffet Buffet catering has been a traditionally popular way to serve dinner at weddings whether they are big or small. Sharing the same utensils during a self-serve buffet doesn’t sound so appealing in 2021, and more couples are opting for plated meals, food trucks and sack lunches. Wedding cakes have not gone out of style and are here to stay. More Couples are Eloping It’s no surprise that eloping has been a progressive trend over the past year. Rather than dealing with the potential headache of downsizing due to the pandemic, couples are preferring smaller affairs and elopements in 2021. Livestream Weddings Livestream wedding ceremonies are on the rise as couples are looking to share their special day with distant friends and family members. Colorful Attire Younger couples are branching out and wearing brighter colors for their weddings. While the bride is still in white, colorful accents on her dress could allow the groom to get creative and opt out from the traditional, black-and-white tuxedo. Green & White Florals are Out The demand for traditional, green and white florals is fading as more couples are inspired to make a bigger statement at their wedding this year. Deeper shades in the color palette like green, burgundy, blue and purple are flooding the accents of wedding décor designs in 2021.
