Hello wonderful followers!! One of the big questions I get asked is, "how do you style dessert tables?" They are one of my favorite parts of an event. Dessert tables are so much fun because there are many options to show case your sweets and treats. I am so excited about devoting this blog entry to sharing a few tips. The very first and most important thing I do is to create a theme or color scheme. This picture is from BRIK venue a few weeks ago. I am going to be using these to explain the process. For this particular dessert table, I wanted a lot of white with pops of pink and greens. My main inspiration came from a cactus. I thought it would make for a fun but classy dessert table. The second thing I plan out is what desserts I want to serve at the event. I love the traditional wedding cake, but it is also fun to include cookies, donuts, cake pops, cupcakes, cotton candy, etc. The options are endless! For this table, we decided on baked donuts, cookies, and macaroons. For added color and pop, try adding drinks. It's a cute way to continue with your theme while adding another fabulous element. The third thing to consider is the layout and the different heights you want to use. It's important to use a lot of variation to draw the eye in. Sometimes I use clear or white stands, but its fun to bring in a little color as well. My final tip when designing your dessert table is backdrop. I LOVE using greenery on a white wall, but I have used fabric, signs, florals, balloons, mirrors, really…you can do anything. Dessert tables are a fun way to add personality to any event. I reached out to the very talented Nine Photography to get some insight on the best ways to capture some of my upcoming events. They suggested a styled shoot which allows the planner to execute a few different settings on the same day. This was a smaller styled shoot with lots of amazing vendors. For my first go at this, I was very pleased. I am so passionate about planning and styling weddings that it makes this the best job in the world for me. I hope that you will take this journey with me as I learn the in's and out's of this crazy wedding industry.
